TC 28/04/05

Alrighty people, eGG-man is back and raring to eat. After having consuming Japanese chow for the last 1 week, I'm more than prepared to have some local specialties. So based on Carmen's suggestion that we have claypot chicken rice in Old Town, the TC this Thursday will be at Restoran Weng Soon in PJ Old Town. This place is well known for its claypot chicken rice and amazing variety of double boiled soups. My personal favourite is one that sells out very quickly, Moo Far Kor Tong. That's because this soup doesnt keep overnight so I'm guranteed a fresh bowl everytime I get it.
Anyhow the directions to get there is as follows. Firstly get to the traffic lights where Public Bank, Medan Selera is located. U could approach this junction from Assunta Hospital, MPPJ side or Jln Gasing roundabout. This restaurant is along the same row as Public Bank about midway in. Parking may be a little congested but you can always park around the shops.
So see you lot at 7.45pm on Thursday for a Potty Good Time!

Tai Chow this Thursday 14/4...

OK boys and girls... I've found an excuse for the makan this Thursday... we're sending Chin Heng and Lee Ming off to Japan for their honeymoon... as CH will be eating sashimi and oysters (and oysters...), I guess we can all gather and have a feast... not that we needed the excuse.

Anyway, here's a suggestion... there's this Famous Claypot Loh See Fun shop in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI), near IBM's office. The shop is located on the row of shophouses behind Secret Recipe, but the other end. Yvonne has recommended the place, and I've tried out the place once with Weng and the food is pretty good. The shop is supposed to be a branch of the famous Petaling Street Claypot Loh See Fun. I had enjoyed its Kam Heong La La and it's Marmite Pai Kuat dish the last time along with the Loh See Fun.

So, who's up for it this Thursday?

Movie Review: Be Cool

What's this? This blog's dying? No, don't stop.

Anyway, managed to catch a midnite screening of Be Cool last Thursday. It turned out to be not so cool after all. It's either the timing that made the story seems long and draggy or the story IS long and draggy.

Chili Palmer (John Travolta, looking his usual cool-self) made it to the big time in Hollywood in the prequel to this show, Get Shorty when he produced a blockbuster movie that propelled Danny De Vito to stardom. Danny De Vito only appeared briefly in this sequel and I don't even remember now what was he doing in the movie. So, the story went about how Chili got himself in the music industry, hooking up with the delicious Uma Thurman, promoting budding singer Christian Milian, getting mixed up with some gangster rappers led by Cedric the Entertainer, seeking revenge against the Russian Mafia and a ruthless record executive (Harvey Keitel).

The story itself seems to go round and round, without ever going anywhere... throw in some nice cameos by the Aerosmith (Steven Tyler, Joe Perry), Wycelf Jean, Fred Durst and some other music celebrities, you have Be Cool.

Be Cool? Ain't so cool. No point watching it on the big screen.
