Stupid Raikonnen

here i was watching F1 as per normal when our dearest F1 racer takes his car to within 1 lap of victory and doesnt win. What does he do? he allows his right wheel to rattle hard enough to snap his suspension and crash his car.

Instead of pitting in to change his tyre, lose his 10 points for winning and instead settle for 3rd place's 6 points, he gets nothing.
Therefore, we now see Alonso, benefit from Raikonnen's stupidity or ambition and gain another 10 points on the Finn.

As you can tell, this really sucked the rest of my evening.. especially when i was just about to feel happy that Raikonnen is gonna win his 3rd race in a row. Makes me sick to see alonso put his hand up with 4 fingers in the air... Anyhow, its still better than seeing schumacher win race after race..

Enough about this, im now watching CNN about an Inflight Chef. Explaining the issues of cooking at such altitude.. cabin pressures.. and so on about why frying cant be done in flights..
I know i had to put something about food in this blog or lord ch will complain.

anyway, food nite everyone

Ten for Seven

Okay, so, we didn't live up to the formula of 2n - 1, but we sure came close, and considering that there were 4 girls and only 3 guys, I think I'm proud of the performances of the girls of TCG.

I got there at about the same time Hui Ling arrived. We were contemplating to take a table upstairs or downstairs, but having been around smokers often enough, I knew the smokers would not resist the chance to take a puff at every available opportunities, so we took a table for 10 downstairs. Anticipated about 10 people, but found out later Eugene, Charles and Vig couldn't make it. Then I saw Su Ann confidently walking up the stairs and I thought, someone must have arrived earlier. True enough, Yvonne had already arrived earlier and took the table upstairs for the comfort of the aircond space, but she and Su Ann came down to join Hui Ling and I. Soon after, Carmen came. The two KLCC boys, Harrie and Say Hong arrived about 10 minutes later.

I was given the task of ordering the the dishes... and I ordered about 6 dishes - a fish, one vege, one sweet sour pork, one pai kuat, one taufu and one fried sotong. We thought it was a lot initially, but after like 5 minutes after the dishes arrived, we decided that maybe we need another plate of green vege, and we ordered another one. Half way chomping through the fish (the rest of the dishes were pretty much cleaned out), we decided to order a kung-po "lai lui ha" (forgot what it's called in English), another plate of the sotong and a bowl of soup. Within 30 minutes of ordering the first dish, all food were chowed down. Clean. If Weng and/or Chin Heng is around, I 'm sure we could meet the 2n-1 formula easily.

Overall, it was a satisfying dinner. One thing that is really amazing about Paris (the restaurant, not the city in France), is that the food are served really fast. The food arrives on our table in no more than 5 minutes after we ordered it. This is what I call "FAST FOOD". Bet McD can't even measure up.

Gastronomical Adventures

It's been a few memorable days of food and friends since Saturday. I had a few cravings that were truly satisfied (song cue: Satisfaction by Benni Benassi...) over the course of past few days... more...

A TC to follow a TC...

Its nice to see the core of TCG upholding the cause. Last week Mutant Potatoes could have attacked PJ but they would be no match for the 3 'Leguminators'. Yes we should do it again but there is some new places that we should also explore.
Infact I'm writing to report that this has been a very 'productive' TC weekend for me. Saturday was a session in Telok Gong with some friends and 11 dishes were ordered for a table of 7. Besides the abundance of seafood, todi & Guiness was also a prominent feature at dinner. I must stress though that the food at Telok Gong is no longer as good as it was. However the experience of driving there and hanging out in the middle of nowhere with good company and todi always makes the outing that much more pleasant. The crowd however has ignored thedrop in quality of the food and continues to patronise this seafood haven to the extent that HSBC stationed a mobile unit at the entrance of the Coconut Flower restaurant on a Saturday night to recruit cardholders! When an international bank posts 8 personnel to recruit exclusively at your restaurant on a Saturday night, that must be among the best form of flattery available.
Sunday night was another exciting TC outing with family members. There is this quaint little restaurant in Sri Kembangan which serves excellent steamed fish cutlets amongst other lip-smacking, finger licking dishes such as 'Kung-Po' snails, pork knuckles, fish head soup with bittergourd and 'Lak Tong' aka Killer Pepper soup. Perhaps this should be our next venture as I would highly recommend it.
Alas I'm complete with my weekend report for now. I shall be looking forward to having 'light' meals for the next few days and futsal before embarking on yet another adventure this coming Thursday.....

2n-1

Dear All,

Thanks to the inactivity of TCG as a organisation of food bingers, I had a runaway event with Harrie and Lord Egg at our favourite potato joint. Needless to say, the total number of dishes we ordered not only met the 2n-1 formula, it surpasses it. Yes folks, we ordered the Potato PaiQuat twice and the shop keeper had the gall to suggest a smaller serving the second time. Lucky i didnt flash my TCG members only card which would guarantee large portions for every dish.
We had 1 fried fish soaked in oil, 1 vege, 1 soup de jour and 1 prawn sambal dish which was more like onion featuring prawn (aka Udang disebalik bawang). I just want to state that harrie had 2 bowls of rice while Lord and I had only 1.5 bowls. This is because the two of us are in the "Mind over matter Diet program". More of this in another post..

Back to our event, CH commented that once, the place where we went (unnamed due to secrecy act TCG clause 3.2) had stopped selling food because they ran out of rice. This is the popularity of this place my friends...mebbe, one day when the TCG members are less busy with their other trivial pursuits, we can feast once more..

till again,
vignesh.

Postponement of Chow Besar

TC 2day/2nite will be postponed again due to lukewarm response. This does not augur well for the 'survival' of the Thursday session. Drinking however is still going strong. We have to maintain the momentum and continue the believe that eating is a blessing. We shall not abandon our beliefs.
On a different note, Anthony Bourdain will be down the following week for a shoot for his new season. Unfortunately I will not be getting a call-up to the shoot. I am however hopeful that my suggestions to his producer will prove useful and that more common foodfare amongst the locals will be featured in the upcoming season.
I guess I'll continue to tune in to find out. I've still not blogged my Tokyo gastronomic exploits. The pictures have been uploaded but the captions are still being processed by my wife, Lee Ming. So once that is completed I shall place the link in this site.
Till the next Eaking/Driting,

Chow Besar 5hb Mei 2005
